Our Organization

Members of the Churches of Christ for Scouting (MCCS) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, independent of but recognized by the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Girls Scouts of the U.S.A. (GSUSA) and American Heritage Girls programs.

MCCS is represented on the National BSA Religious Relationships Committee and advises the National Council and local councils in matters related to Churches of Christ. MCCS supports chaplaincy ministries in units, council events, summer camps, and sponsors chaplains at National Scout Jamborees and Philmont Scout Ranch.

Our Staff

Kent Barnett, Executive Director — Kent Barnett was named Executive Director for Members of Churches of Christ for Scouting in 1998. He has been active with MCCS since 1988. Kent is a veteran Scouter with over 35 years of involvement as a scout and as an adult leader. Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, Kent later served as a Scoutmaster for 11 years. He serves on the National Religious Relationships Committee of the Boy Scouts of America. Kent was awarded the Faithful Servant by MCCS. Kent and his wife Denise are members of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.

Our Board

The Board of Trustees consists of men and women who are members of the Church of Christ and registered members of either the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA or American Heritage Girls.

About Our Logo

The MCCS logo is the Heart of the Servant, which symbolizes the four spheres in the life of a servant leader:

The colors of the logo allude to the three dimensions of servant leadership: red for the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, who is the epitome of servant leadership; white for the pure motives of servant leadership; and gold for the priceless value of servanthood.
